A Message from Our Leaders
What a transformative year. Thank you for your support during this monumental transition, as SickKids continues to usher in the next evolution of paediatric care with Precision Child Health (PCH).
To provide individualized care that attends to the unique characteristics of each patient, SickKids is leading a new frontier in medicine to diagnose faster, treat smarter and predict better through PCH. By harnessing cutting-edge science, technology and data analysis, we are working to tailor clinical care precisely to each of our patients, and ultimately achieve better health outcomes. Last fall, we celebrated the launch of this leap in children’s health care with our impactful “Heal the Future” marketing and media campaign. This included storytelling inspired by patients and families both online and throughout the Greater Toronto Area, with a larger-than-life crystal ball displayed on our hospital lawn as a powerful symbol of the PCH movement: to see through the murkiness of complex illness with the goal of one day stopping it before it starts.
Recognizing that unprecedented health outcomes can only be achieved through unmatched experiences, we launched a new Patient and Family Experience Strategy. This blueprint will help us reimagine and re-energize our services and to advance our human-centred experience to care, research and education. This strategy involved many months of collaborative work with patients, families, staff and the community, and it is closely integrated with our SickKids PCH movement.
We have also taken a critical first step in our campus redevelopment journey by celebrating the completion of our Patient Support Centre. This 22-storey education, training and administrative tower enables the seamless connection of world-class clinical care, research and learning initiatives taking place across the SickKids campus. We accomplished this milestone thanks to the incredible support of donors, Foundation and Hospital board members, government officials and our Campaign Cabinet – community champions instrumental in shoring up early and sustained support.
SickKids is renowned for medical firsts and research breakthroughs. But we still need your audacious spirit and support as we continue our campus transformation, amplify the potential of PCH, and deliver next-generation care for the next generation. Let’s heal the future together.
